First Year Directions (FYD) is a virtual reality orientation app designed to help new students at the University of Miami explore campus life, navigate key landmarks, and engage with student experiences through interactive content. Our team conducted a usability study to evaluate how well the app supports this goal, especially for users with no prior VR experience.

We recruited five graduate students to act as first-time users and guided them through a series of five structured tasks within the app, including exploring campus, watching 360° videos, and playing mini-games. Through a mix of task observations, surveys, and interviews, we assessed ease of navigation, user comfort, and overall engagement.
